If you don't know about the show Daria, Daria was a popular animated show during the late 90s. Starring a wonderful, monotone realist named, Daria Morgendorffer. Centered around her life and the nonsense that goes on in high school. I haven't watched Daria in many years. It used to be my favorite show, like Sailor Moon, but both went off the air and aren't exactly syndicated (Daria's an exception.) I did a search on my tv to find out if Daria was going to be on, and it is; every week literally, on the LOGO channel. I recorded one episode for ten o'clock in the morning, then forgot to record the following episodes so I had no more Daria after my taste of that one episode.
I was so unaccustomed to the show, watching it for the first few minutes, but then as the episode played out I was reminded of why it was my favorite show. Mainly how brilliantly funny Daria is; her and her best friend Jane seeing the idiocies of high school and making fun of them. Also Jane's brother Trent, who is awesome and cute (definitely the type of guy I'd be interested in whilst in high school) and is sort of one of Daria's suitors. At the end, the theme music (You're Standing on My Neck by Splendora) for the next episode of Daria came on, and a wave of love for the show and how it relates to my life hit me. Now if only Sailor Moon could return, syndicated, or at least in some marathon format just for a week. Daria is only on for one weekend, barely; it plays for a few hours then you have to wait until the following week to see more episodes.

An important lesson I've learned is that it pays to find the good in bad situations, so out of the stress and pressure of the day, we should just talk about good things. For me it was: A bath is like the holy grail of bathing; I forgot that you can actually clean yourself this way. Probably because a sit down bath is seen mainly as a relaxation thing as opposed to an everyday, get up a little early, wash yourself sitting down type of thing. This is my second bath this week, and I'm seriously thinking about bathing sitting down everyday. Get some natural bath salts, maybe even put some baking soda, honey, or oatmeal in for a skin-benefiting therapeutic affect. Get up in the morning, maybe exercise, take a bath, get some grub in you, and be about your way. If more people soaked before going out into the world, they'd probably be happier; it's a spa that you don't have to pay for. If you don't have a tub, get a large bowl, fill it with nice hot water, put some bath salts or baking soda and honey in it, and soak your feet. It's not as luxurious as soaking your whole body, but it definitely is therapeutic and has similar effects of a bath.
I keep mentioning baking soda and honey because both are natural products that help with dry, dead skin. Honey is going to leave your skin soft, and glowing. Baking soda aides in detoxification. Natural bath salts are also a wonderful addition to a bath, or foot soak. SheaMoisture's bath salts for eczema and psoriasis are my favorite; they're paraben and sulfate free, they leave your skin soft, and with the added frankincense, smell amazing. Don't use in a glass bowl, or tub; the salts just stick to the glass. |
